Most people seem to think that the best way to set a CD down on something is with the label down and the shiny side up. Actually, it's just the opposite and I'll tell you why....<br /> When you look at a CD closely, you'll see that when you look at the shiny side it is actually a clear piece of plastic with metallic covering underneath containing the CD (or DVD) data. And of course, the other side is what just appears to be the label with info about what is on the disc (the menu). People think they need to keep the clear plastic side safe from scratches.... which is true to a point, so they set the disc down with the label side facing down and the metallic side facing up, but if you scratch the metallic side, you can still buff those scratches out of the clear plastic that covers and protects the data..... HOWEVER.... if you should end up scratching the label side, you are actually destroying the data itself, and that CAN NOT be retrieved!
